Topic Lists for Text Prediction

What this feature does:

Topic lists for text prediction lets you select from your vocabulary lists to give text prediction greater context, prioritizing specific terminology and domain vocabulary in suggestions as students type.

Why it matters:

  • Supports vocabulary development in specific content areas by surfacing relevant academic language
  • Helps multilingual learners and students with word-finding difficulties access discipline-specific terms they may struggle to retrieve or spell
  • Builds confidence in content writing by reducing the cognitive load of recalling and spelling specialized vocabulary
  • Enables differentiated support across subjects—load a science list for lab reports, a history list for essays

MTSS:

  • Tier 1: Universal vocabulary scaffolding for all students writing in content areas
  • Tier 2/3: Targeted support for students who need explicit vocabulary access to participate in grade-level writing tasks

UDL Principles:

  • Multiple means of action & expression: reduces barriers to expressing content knowledge by scaffolding access to academic vocabulary
  • Supports students who know concepts but struggle to retrieve or encode the precise terminology

Bonus Points:

Ideal for content-area writing, research projects, and subject-specific assessments. Pair with vocabulary lists you've already built or import topic-specific word banks to match your curriculum.
